Guiding

About a week ago I started to study guiding at school. We have to write our own blog and first I made a new blog to wordpress. Now I feel I can't even use wordpress and It doesn't feel natural for me to write in finnish. I had get used to write in english so I decided to write my school things to here - to my original blog.

So let's start:

About two weeks ago - before I went to Copenhagen - we needed to stay evening classes with adult students. I spend time at school from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm. We had two evening classes and one Helsinki sightseeing. Now I will tell more about classes and the sihgtseeing.

Evening Classes 1&2:
  • we talked about brand of Finland
  • what kind of things tourist expect to see in Finland? Answers was: snow, Santa Claus, Lapland, Aurora Borealis, sauna, Porvoo, Helsinki, Mumin, midnight sun etc.
  • we had a little quiz. There was some claims and we needed to show green card if it was right or red card if it was wrong
  • Classes was also in english, because there was a lot international students
  • we talked about map of Finland, how does it looks like and where is the most important places to travel.
  • we talked about finnish drinking culture
  • we also shared our opinions from Finland
  • and ofc we tought how to be good guide
Helsinki Sightseeing
  • there was groups - each of them was about 6 students
  • adult students practised to guide and we young ones just watched and learned
On our sightseeing there was a lot familiar information. Most of guides spoke english so it was a little bit hard to follow their point, but luckily one Finnish woman started to speak finnish and she told amazing story from Sofiankatu. It was ghost story and I also used this story on my own 'sightseeing'. I remember that the best.

I will tell more later.
